Frown lines are caused by the contraction of the muscles between the eyebrows. These muscles are responsible for moving the eyebrows, which causes the deep lines that often become visible as vertical wrinkles. Treating frown lines with botox relaxes these muscles and prevents wrinkles from forming.

The treatment
Prior to the treatment, a comprehensive consultation takes place in which we discuss your wishes, expectations and risks of the treatment. The treatment itself is straightforward and quick. The physician places several small injections (usually 3-5 injections) in the muscles between and above the eyebrows. The procedure usually takes only 10 to 15 minutes and you can resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment. The injections are generally not painful and anaesthesia is therefore not necessary.
Within 3 to 5 days the first results become visible. After approximately 10 to 14 days, the botox has fully taken effect. The result typically lasts 3 to 4 months, after which the muscles resume their normal activity and the wrinkles gradually return. The exact duration of effect varies per person. Regular repeat treatments are needed to maintain the smooth effect. At Noveve Aesthetics, we focus on natural results to prevent an expressionless face. We always start with the minimum dosage and adjust after two weeks if necessary.
Safety
Botox treatments are generally very safe but may have some side effects such as bruising, swelling or headache. Rare complications include facial asymmetry, a drooping eyelid or problems closing the eyes. In very rare cases, botox may spread to other parts of the body or an allergic reaction may occur.
Before a botox treatment, it is important to avoid blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, for several days to minimise bruising. Always consult a physician before stopping such medication. After the treatment, we recommend not touching the treated area and not lying flat for the first 4 to 6 hours. This prevents the botox from migrating to surrounding muscles. It is also advised to avoid physical exertion for the first 24 hours, as well as sunbeds and saunas. Always follow the specific instructions from the physician for optimal results and recovery.

Most clients experience only a slight pricking sensation. The needles are very thin and the treatment takes just 10-15 minutes. Anaesthesia is usually not necessary.
