Hyaluronic acid
A filler treatment for nasolabial folds is designed to soften the lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth, also known as nasolabial folds. These lines develop due to ageing, volume loss in the face and/or repeated movements, such as laughing. With hyaluronic acid fillers, volume is restored and the folds are reduced. This results in a fresher and younger appearance.
This treatment is suitable for people who notice that the nasolabial fold is becoming deeper, which can result in a tired or aged appearance. This volume loss is often caused by natural skin ageing, where the elasticity and firmness of the skin decrease. Younger people with a prominent fold due to genetic predisposition can also benefit from this treatment.

The treatment
Prior to the treatment, an extensive consultation takes place in which we discuss your wishes, expectations and the risks of the treatment. The physician analyses your face and determines how much filler is needed for a natural result. The treatment itself takes approximately 20-25 minutes. After applying a numbing cream, the physician places small injections in and along the fold. The filler is evenly distributed to create a smooth transition and subtly fill the folds.
The result is immediately visible, although slight swelling or redness in the treated area is possible. After 1 to 2 weeks, the fillers have fully settled and the final result is visible. The nasolabial fold will be less deep and the skin will have a smoother and younger appearance. The fillers remain effective for an average of 9 to 12 months, depending on your metabolism and lifestyle. Regular follow-up treatments are recommended to maintain the effect.
Safety
Fillers are generally very safe when performed by an experienced physician using high-quality products. Possible side effects include swelling, bruising or redness, which usually subside within a few days. In rare cases, an infection, allergic reaction or vascular occlusion may occur.
Before a treatment with filler, it is important to avoid blood-thinning medication, such as aspirin, for a few days beforehand to minimise bruising. Always consult a physician before stopping this type of medication. After the treatment, we recommend not touching or massaging the treated area. Additionally, it is advised to avoid physical exertion for the first 24 hours, as well as sunbeds and saunas. Always follow the physician's specific instructions for optimal results and recovery.

The folds become significantly softer and less deep. Whether they disappear completely depends on the depth of the fold. We discuss realistic expectations during the consultation.
The results last on average 6 to 12 months. Because this is an area with a lot of movement (talking, laughing), the filler may break down slightly faster here than in other areas.
That depends on your situation. Sometimes volume loss in the cheeks is the cause of deeper nasolabial folds. In that case, a combination with cheekbone filler may be more effective. We will advise you on this.
