A tear trough filler treatment is designed to correct volume loss under the eyes. With the help of hyaluronic acid fillers, the tear trough is filled, making the shadow under the eyes less visible. This provides a natural, well-rested and fresh appearance.
This treatment is suitable if you suffer from a tired appearance or a hollow area under the eyes. This is often caused by genetic predisposition, ageing or thin skin in the area around the eyes. If concealer or make-up cannot sufficiently conceal this problem, a tear trough filler treatment can be an effective solution.

The treatment
Prior to the treatment, an extensive consultation takes place in which we discuss your wishes, expectations and the risks of the treatment. During the treatment, the physician places the filler under the eyes using a cannula. By using a cannula, the chance of bruising or other complications is reduced. A cannula under the skin may temporarily cause a tickling sensation. The treatment itself takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
The result of a tear trough filler is immediately visible, although slight swelling or redness in the treated area is possible. After 1 to 2 weeks, the fillers have fully settled and the final result is visible. The result is a fresh and well-rested appearance. The fillers remain visible for an average of 9 to 12 months, depending on your metabolism and lifestyle. Regular follow-up treatments are recommended to maintain the effect.
Safety
Fillers are generally very safe when performed by an experienced physician using high-quality products. Possible side effects include swelling, bruising or redness, which usually subside within a few days. In rare cases, an infection, allergic reaction or vascular occlusion may occur. With this treatment, it is especially important not to place too much filler, as this can lead to fluid retention under the eyes.
Before a treatment with filler, it is important to avoid blood-thinning medication, such as aspirin, for a few days beforehand to minimise bruising. Always consult a physician before stopping this type of medication. After the treatment, we recommend not touching or massaging the treated area. Additionally, it is advised to avoid physical exertion for the first 24 hours, as well as sunbeds and saunas. Always follow the physician's specific instructions for optimal results and recovery.
