Profhilo is an injectable skin treatment based on a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid. It is not a filler -- no volume is added and the facial shape does not change. Profhilo works exclusively as a deep hydration booster; after injection, the hyaluronic acid spreads evenly through the skin and gives the skin the moisture it needs to look healthy and fresh.
Profhilo is an excellent choice for people who suffer from skin dehydration. Think of a dull or dry complexion, fine dehydration lines or skin that looks somewhat tired despite good care. Profhilo addresses these issues from within; the hyaluronic acid attracts moisture and retains it in the skin layers, giving the skin visibly more radiance and resilience.
The treatment
Prior to the treatment, a comprehensive consultation takes place in which we discuss your wishes and skin condition and assess whether Profhilo is the right choice. The treatment consists of a series of 5-10 injections at fixed points in the face, neck and/or décolleté. The hyaluronic acid then spreads through the skin on its own. The treatment takes approximately 20 minutes.
After approximately two to three days, the skin begins to feel visibly hydrated. The full result -- a fresher, more even skin with fewer visible dehydration lines and a beautiful glow -- is noticeable after two to four weeks. The effects last on average six to nine months and can be prolonged by repeating the treatment periodically.
Safety
Profhilo is a safe treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced physician. Possible side effects include temporary swelling, redness or small bruises at the injection sites, but these usually disappear within a few hours to days. There are few risks associated with this treatment. In rare cases, infections or allergic reactions may occur, but this is extremely uncommon.
Before a Profhilo treatment, it is important to avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin for a few days beforehand to minimise bruising. Always consult a physician before stopping such medication. After the treatment, the skin may feel somewhat sensitive and we recommend not touching or massaging the treated area. It is also advisable to avoid physical exertion for the first 24 hours, as well as sunbeds and saunas. Always follow the specific instructions from the physician for optimal results and recovery.
