Muscle relaxants
Some people naturally have an upper lip that curls slightly inward. This can be due to a strong mouth muscle. During this treatment, a small amount of Botox is injected into the muscle above the upper lip to subtly curl the lip outward.
This treatment is suitable for you if you are looking for a subtle curl of the upper lip. This creates a subtle, fuller look of the upper lip without the use of fillers.

The treatment
Prior to the treatment, an extensive consultation takes place in which we discuss your wishes, expectations and risks of the treatment. The physician places 4-6 injections at specific points along the edge of the upper lip. This will cause the upper lip to curl slightly upward.
Within 3 to 5 days the first effect becomes visible, and after approximately 2 weeks the full result can be seen. The results last for approximately 3 to 4 months; this varies per person. Regular repeat treatments are recommended to maintain the effect. At Noveve Aesthetics, we focus on natural results to prevent an expressionless face. We always start with the minimum dosage and adjust after two weeks if necessary.
Safety
Botox treatments are generally very safe but may have some side effects such as bruising, swelling or redness. Rare complications include facial asymmetry, infection and a crooked smile. In very rare cases, botox may spread to other parts of the face or an allergic reaction may occur. With this treatment, it is specifically important to note that overdosing can lead to reduced ability to pucker the lips, difficulty drinking through a straw and/or drooling.
Before a botox treatment, it is important to avoid blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, for several days to minimise bruising. Always consult a physician before stopping such medication. After the treatment, we recommend not touching the treated area and not lying flat for the first 4 to 6 hours. This prevents the botox from migrating to surrounding muscles. It is also advised to avoid physical exertion for the first 24 hours, as well as sunbeds and saunas. Always follow the specific instructions from the physician for optimal results and recovery.

With a lip flip, botox is used to subtly curl the upper lip outward, without adding extra volume. With lip filler, hyaluronic acid is used to actually add volume to the lips. A lip flip is more subtle.
Yes, in most cases you can eat and drink normally straight away. In rare cases, drinking through a straw may be temporarily more difficult. We always start with a low dosage to prevent this.
The effect lasts on average 3 to 4 months. Because a low dosage is used, the effect may last slightly shorter for some people.
The treatment may be experienced as slightly uncomfortable, but is well tolerated. Numbing cream is applied before the treatment to minimise discomfort.
